Spring Covid vaccinations available

In spring 2024, the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) advises that a COVID-19 vaccine should be offered to:

· adults aged 75 years and over

· residents in a care home for older adults

· individuals aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed (as defined in tables 3 or 4 in the COVID-19 chapter of the Green Book) Note that this includes people with CLL and SLL.

This should be offered around 6 months after the last vaccine dose, although operational flexibility around the timing of the spring dose in relation to the last vaccine dose is considered appropriate (with a minimum interval of 3 months between doses). More information on operational flexibility will be provided in the COVID-19 chapter of the Green Book.

Vaccinations commenced on 15 April, and you should receive notification from your doctor or the NHS. It is our recommendation that people with CLL/SLL should have the vaccination.

Dates for the 2024 Spring booster programme

In England: Boosters will start in care homes on 15 April, and for all other eligible people on 22 April. You can book boosters via the National Booking System from 15 April. The booster programme will run until 30 June 2024.
In Scotland: The booster programme will run until 30 June 2024. NHS Scotland has information on how to book your booster.
In Wales: The booster programme will run until 30 June 2024. The NHS will contact you to let you know when and where to have the vaccine.
In Northern Ireland: The booster programme will run until 30 June 2024. You can book your vaccination online or with a local pharmacy.
